Transform Southeast Into Dubai–Ohanaeze Tasks Tinubu

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has urged the President-elect, Bola Tinubu and incoming state governors of the Southeast to transform the region into the “Dubai” of West Africa.
Ohanaeze’s Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, made the call in response to a proposed move by Southwest states to launch a regional railway line and electricity projects.
Isiguzoro said Tinubu’s administration and those of the incoming governors should establish rail lines across Owerri, Onitsha, Awka and Abakaliki.
Speaking with DAILY POST, Isiguzoro said: “Ohanaeze is calling on the new governors from the Southeast and that of Imo and Anambra to take drastic measures to ensure that rail line passes through Owerri, Onitsha, Awka, and Abakaliki.
“Ohanaeze is taking a lead role in ensuring that there is a rail connection from the commercial nerve centre of the Southeast, Aba, to Owerri to Onitsha where there is a dry seaport.

Troops of tion Hadarin Daji on Sunday neutralised three bandits in an ambush at Anka-Dan Kapani crossing in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The Director, Defence Media tions, Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, made this known in a statement on Sunday in Abuja. Danmadami said the troops also recovered one PKT gun with 48 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 ammunition, three AK 47 rifles, three magazines with 63 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and three motorcycles.

Abe Shocks Supporters, Withdraws Petition From Elections Tribunal

PORT HARCOURT – GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in March 18 governorship elections in Rivers state, Sen Magnus Abe, has withdrawn his petition before the elections tribunal challenging outcome of the exercise.
Abe who recently hailed the relocation of the tribunal from Port Harcourt to Abuja, told party leaders in the Rivers state capital Sunday that the decision, though personal, was reached in consultation and agree with the party hierarchy at state and national levels.
He said, “Having made a very clear review of the situation and what is happening in the state, I’ve decided in consultation with the party at the state and national that I withdraw my petition at the election petition tribunal”
Akwa Ibom Youths Protest Planned Remapping Of State

Irate youths drawn from the Eastern Obolo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State on Saturday took to the streets to protest plans by the state government to remap the state.
Recall that the Bill titled, “State Map Establishment Bill” passed by the state legislature is now awaiting Governor Udom Emmanuel’s assent.
Our correspondent reports that the Bill had sparked pockets of protests by youths from other local government areas of Mbo, and Ibeno, in the state, who have expressed resentment over the bill and vowed that it would not sail through.
In Eastern Obolo, thousands of the protesters who converged at the Okorettee junction of the town, as early as 7:30 am on Saturday, barricaded the major highways leading to the oil companies operating in the area and stopped official vehicular movement into the town.
