Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 election, Peter Obi, has arrived at the venue of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja as the hearing begins today.

Also at the venue is Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, who was the Director General Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in the last election.

The victory of President-elect Bola Tinubu is being challenged by the opposition, especially Obi and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

APC chieftain endorses Yari for Senate Presidency

Alhaji Sha’ayau Sarkinfawa, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara, has endorsed Sen. Abdul’aziz Yari for the Senate Presidency of the 10th National Assembly.

Sarkinfawa stated this in an interview with men in Gusau on Sunday.

“My appeal to the party’s leadership at the national level to zone the position of Senate President of the 10th Assembly to the Northwest.”

“The Northwest played greater contribution to the emergence of the President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu.”

“We gave the highest number of votes compared to any other zone in the country, therefore we deserve Senate President position.”

“I am confident that Senator-elect Abdul’aziz Yari has all it takes to occupy the number one position in the 10th Senate.”

APC NWC To Ratify Zoning Plan Today

Amajor step to zone leadership positions in the 10th National Assembly will be taken today by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ruling party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has slated a meeting to decide the geo-political zones where top positions – Senate President, Deputy Senate President, House of Representatives Speaker and Deputy Speaker – will come from.

The APC with 59 senators-elect out of 109 seat, controls the majority.

It also has 178 House of Representatives members-elect out of 360, becoming the party with the single largest members.

Leaders of the party, such as governors, senior figures and caucuses, have made their recommendations.

Fleeing Robbers Abandon Loaded Gun In Enugu

A locally fabricated cut-to-size gun loaded with one live cartridge has been recovered from fleeing armed robbery suspects by police operatives in the New Artisan area of Enugu State.

A spokesperson for Enugu Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, announced this in a statement on Monday in Enugu

He added that three suspects were also caught while vandalising a transformer within the Enugu metropolis by the police with the assistance of Neighbourhood Watch officers.
