According to reports coming from DAILY POST, the Coalition for True Governance has requested the impeachment of Imo Governor, Hope Uzodinma over the repeated killings in the state.
The report has it that the organization also advised security agencies to shine their searchlight across Imo over the spate of insecurity amid the workers’ industrial action.
In the report, a message on Tuesday by the Convener, Charles Odenigbo, charged members of the Imo House of Assembly to begin impeachment proceedings against the governor.
DAILY POST report claims that CTG pointed out that his “lack of leadership and action” in dealing with burning problems, has resulted in substantial disturbance and fear in the state.
The report adds that Odenigbo announced that it is not acceptable, that innocent lives are lost regularly, while workers are being compelled to take to the streets to request better pay and working conditions.
“Just a few weeks back, 5 policemen and a couple were ghastly murdered in the Ngor-Okpala area of the state. This is disheartening”, CTG said.
“The group regrets Imo is in the news most times due to the alarming trend of violent crimes, including murders and kidnappings.
“The continuous workers’ strike has resulted in important upheaval to public services, with healthcare and education being harshly affected.”
“The lawmakers in the state are there for a reason, to attend to the people. If the Governor goes on to fail in his duties, the option of impeachment should be considered,” CTG added.
