The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), has called on the Senate President, Ahmad Lawal and all other Senators at the upper chamber of the National Assembly to immediately reject the request of the outgoing Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, to borrow $800 million from the World Bank.
SERAP made this known its official Twitter handle following the request which President Buhari submitted to the upper chamber of the National Assembly, to borrow $800 million from World Bank.
“Breaking : We urge the Senate President Dr Ahmad Lawal and all senators to immediately reject the request by President Buhari to borrow $800 million from the World Bank.” Said, SERAP.
Recall, President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure in office will expire by the end of this month (May 29, 2023), but Mr President still want to borrow money on behalf of Nigeria in order to cushion the effect of proposed removal of petrol subsidy in Nigeria.
