Imo: Tinubu’s Campaign Council Chairman Killed

LAGOS – The Oru-East Presidential Campaign Council Chairman for Ahmed Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima in the just-concluded 2023 presidential election, Captain Enoch, has been reportedly shot dead in Imo State by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

The deceased, who is also a kinsman to the Imo state Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, was said to have been killed on Tuesday night around the Awamama Technical School area while returning from an APC stakeholders’ meeting held at the Local Government Headquarters, with his body dumped in the boot of his car.

According to an eyewitness, Enoch was also the Coordinator of the ‘Grow Orlu Project’, a political structure of the Senator-elect of the Imo-west senatorial district, Osita Izunaso.

President Buhari felicitates with Chief Waheed Ekun

President Muhammadu Buhari has joined former National champion and international table tennis coach, Chief Waheed Ekun, in celebrating the 50th anniversary of his table tennis national title at the 1st National Sports Festival in 1973.

The President commended Chief Ekun for representing Nigeria at international meets for many years.

The President, on Wednesday, also commended his contributions to the growth of the sport through his prolific writings, and deep commitment to mentoring athletes and discovering talents as a coach and Olympic instructor.

The President said he trusts that the Agbaakin Mayegun of Ibadanland will continue to promote the development of table tennis as well as other sports in the country, exerting the same energy and excitement exuded fifty years ago before fans, spectators and General Yakubu Gowon, when he was crowned National Champion in the thrilling final with Sunday Eboh.

President Buhari noted that he remains steadfast in his support for national icons like Ekun, who through their vocation, skill, hard work and sportsmanship have brought honour and laurels to the country.

I’m scared Nnamdi Kanu may die, Ozekhome tells S’Court

Nnamdi Kanu’s Senior Counsel, Mike Ozekhome has told the Supreme Court that he is scared that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) might die in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Ozekhome, during the hearing on Thursday, told the apex court that Kanu’s health issues have deteriorated and he needs a surgical operation.

The lawyer asked the court to rule in favour of the transfer of Kanu from DSS custody to Kuje correctional centre so that he can begin treatment.

“My Lords, Nnamdi Kanu is sick, he has been approved for surgery but they have refused to release him for treatment,” BBC Pidgin quoted Ozekhome as saying.

“We are pleading for him to be transferred from DSS custody to Kuje correctional centre so that he can begin treatment like others.

6,000 worshippers converge to pray for Nigeria, Tinubu

No fewer than 6,000 worshippers are at Galilee of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide to offer prayers for the President-Elect.

The worshippers are also praying for the hitch-free inauguration of the president-elect come May 29th.

They added that the prayers of all led to the success of the 2023 general elections.

Speaking with reporters at the international headquarters of the church along the Ilorin-Ogbomoso expressway, Supervising Prophet, International Council of Prophets of the church, Dr Zacheus Emmanuel said that the annual fiesta is principally to pray for Nigeria, families, the church and the world at large.
