The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Wase, says it is turn to lead the Green Chamber of the 10th Assembly, having made huge sacrifices for the house in the past.

He added that he possesses all the qualities to be the nation’s number four citizen.

I was deputy to Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila as Minority Leader and in 2015 I had more than 75 per cent endowment to be leader. But I was asked to step down and I obliged.

In 2019, I felt I should go for speaker but again the party leaders said I should step down for Femi Gbajabiamila and I obliged even though I had the endorsement to go through and we then ran a joint campaign.

Bauchi Gov appoint Emir of Ningi Amirul Hajj

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Friday approved the appointment of the Emir of Ningi, Alhaji Yunusa Mohammed Danyaya, as the Bauchi State Amirul Hajj for the 2023 Hajj exercise.

The letter of appointment of the first class traditional ruler, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim, indicated that his appointment alongside 24 other prominent citizens of the state, is based on their individual track records of hard work, commitment, patriotism, trustworthiness, and fear of Almighty Allah.

The letter then called on the appointees to demonstrate those qualities in the discharge of the onerous task to justify the confidence reposed in them by the government and the entire people of state.

Meanwhile, the media aide to Governor Mohammed, Muktar Gidado, disclosed that the state’s Amirul Hajj team is expected to work hand in hand with the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and other relevant agencies at the state, federal and international levels to provide sincere, effective and purposeful leadership.

Buhari Appoints Ochi’Idoma Chancellor Federal University Otuoke

President Muhammadu Buhari has presented letter of appointment to the Paramount Ruler of the Idoma Kingdom, His Royal Majesty ( HRM) Agaba’Idu, Dr Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John as the New Chancellor of the Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State.

The presentation was done on Friday, 12th May, 2023, at the Och’Idoma Palace Otukpo, according to a statement from Federal Ministry of Education.

Speaking during the presentation, Buhari, represented by the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Arc. Sonny Echono, stated that Och’Idoma’s appointment was based on his enble track records, leadership qualities and integrity.

Mr. President commended his commitment to the development of Education and the sustenance of peace and stability of the country.

UNIOSUN VC Bags OAU Faculty Of Agric Ambassador Award

The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor ‘Ayo Clement Adebooye, has been awarded the Distinguished Faculty of Agriculture Ambassador Award by his alma mater, the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in recognition of his leadership achievements as Vice-Chancellor.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of Osun State University, Ademola Adesoji, revealed that Adebooye received the award at the 12th Faculty Lecture of the Faculty of Agriculture, Obafemi Awolowo University, held at the African Centre of Excellence, Oak Park Hall, OAU, Ile-Ife.

Adebooye appreciated the Faculty for decorating him with the award and fondly recalled his days as an undergraduate in the Department of Crop Production and Protection.

He also called on alumni of Universities all over the country to make it a habit of giving back to their alma mater, noting that such goodwill would complement the efforts of governments in running the higher education system.
