Mr. Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 presidential election has reiterated his belief that what Nigeria needs at the moment is conscious, planned and aggressive transition from consumption to production-based economy.

Obi, who came third in the president election won by Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC during the public presentation of a compendium in his honour in Awka, the capital of Anambra State on Friday.

Idris Wase, a member of the house of representatives, has declared his intention to run for the speaker of the 10th assembly.

Wase, who is the deputy speaker of the house, declared his speakership bid on Friday at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

As the nation celebrates the 50th anniversary of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), President Muhammadu Buhari has extolled the scheme for its golden years of existence.

In a statement released on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the president saluted former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), for his wisdom in setting up the NYSC in 1973.
