As we wait for the continuation of the hearing of the petitions filed by Mr. Peter Obi challenging the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the February 25th election by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, one of Mr. Peter Obi’s attorneys reportedly revealed to Vanguard paper the strongest grounds they will rely upon to win the case.
According to the lawyer who spoke with Vanguard paper on the phone while requesting anonymity, MrObi is battling Tinubu on a number of fronts.
Despite the failure of other arguments, he claimed that their case was still strong because of the second round.
He asserts that the Independent National Electoral Commission is dragging out the process since they are accused of violating their laws and the constitution. The second complaint premise, which directly challenges INEC and their administration of the election and alleges a violation of the electoral act, the constitution, and the manual or guidelines issued by INEC for election conduct, is, in my opinion, the strongest.
I think the second basis is what Obi meant when he said he was “testing the process”. According to the lawyer, “Overall, I anticipate compelling and persuasive arguments from solicitors on both sides in the coming days.”
