According to Chris Nwaokobia, a member of the Labour Party’s presidential campaign council, some people insisted that Bola Tinubu did not need to receive 25% of the vote in Abuja.
Chris Nwaokobia claims that the court has already ruled twice that a candidate needs to receive 25% of the vote in Abuja in order to be elected president of Nigeria.
According to Chris Nwaokobia, it was agreed in the years 2004 through 2005, as well as in 2007 and 2008, that a contender needed to receive 25% of the votes cast in Abuja to be declared the victor of the presidential election.
Given the court’s decisions, he said he is baffled as to why INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu pronounced Bola Tinubu the winner of the presidential election despite the fact that he did not obtain the required 25% of the vote in Abuja.
According to Chris Nwaokobia, Bola Tinubu was unable to garner 25% of the vote in Abuja, thus he is not recognising the INEC results.
