LP Crisis:Plans to withdraw Obi’s court case against President-elect Tinubu is still in motion-Abure

Julius Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has addressed the ongoing leadership dispute within the party and discussed the legal petition filed by the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, challenging Bola Tinubu’s election. In a video uploaded on YouTube, Abure revealed that he had previously disclosed plans to withdraw Peter Obi’s court case. However, he emphasized that those orchestrating these plans would face opposition and their intentions would be thwarted.

Abure also commented on the power struggle within the Labour Party. He highlighted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognized the candidates who emerged victorious in the Labour Party primaries organized by his faction in Kogi and Imo States. Therefore, Abure asserted that the faction led by Lamidi Apapa should be disregarded in the party’s affairs.

In his words: “Last week we raised alarm over plans to withdraw and work against Peter Obi’s petition. That plan has not been completely jettisoned, they are still working on it but we are waiting for them, we are ready to stop them and defend the cause of the Labour Party. I, therefore, want to urge members of the public to disregard any misinformation that is making the rounds as per the leadership of the party. Apapa and his group should not be taken seriously, INEC has released the list of candidates who were successful in Kogi and Imo State and our candidates have all been uploaded. That is to tell you that Apapa and co should not be listened to.”
