Barcelona interested in signing 18-year-old star dubbed ‘the Turkish Messi’ – Reports
According to AS, Barcelona is keeping an eye on 18-year-old Turkish midfielder Arda Guler. Guler has earned the moniker “Turkish Messi” from many people. Now, the 18-year-old represents Fenerbahce of Turkey.
In 20 games this season, he has two assists and three goals to his credit. The attacking midfielder has proven his talent despite his age. Barca has been assembling a core of young players, including Alejandro Balde, Pedri, Gavi, and Ansu Fati.
More young players who might join the club in the future are being scouted by them. Guler has a deal with Fenerbahce that runs through 2025. He is currently worth about €10 million.
Barcelona, though, may need to fend off interest from Atletico Madrid, a direct La Liga foe, if they want to add Guler to their team. Arsenal Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also said to have shown an interest in Guler in the past.
A fan named Max gave Guler the nickname ‘Turkish Messi’. He told GOAL:
“I went to Barcelona to watch Messi before and it was really great to see him, So I thought Arda Guler, who is my favorite Fenerbahce player in the biggest game of the season, would deserve this nickname!”
