The results of the presidential election held on February 25 and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress’ claim as the winner have been once more disputed by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

This announcement was published by the Punch papers on Monday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission was also ordered to halt the current transfer of polling unit results to its server by the PDP, who claimed that this was a flagrant breach of the Election Act of 2022.

This information was provided by the PDP in a protest letter to INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu that was sent to the office on Monday in Abuja as part of a demonstration against the outcome of the presidential election.

Ahead of the elections for governor and state Houses of Assembly, the PDP also advised INEC not to repeat the mistakes of February 25, 2023.

On behalf of the commission, the PDP presented the appeal to Festus Okoye, National Commissioner for INEC and Chairperson of Voter Education and Publicity. Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman, urged the commission to halt the ongoing transmission of polling unit results to its servers since it was blatantly in violation of the Election Act of 2022.

Iyorchia Ayu said, “We reject the outcome, announcement, and declaration of the presidential election results, and consider them to be unacceptable.”

He also stated, “We caution INEC against repeating the mistakes made during the election on February 25 in the upcoming governorship and state assembly elections on March 11, 2023. A manipulation of the electoral process will not be tolerated in any way.”
