Presidential election: Ohanaeze Ndigbo confident Peter Obi will reclaim mandate
The Guardian Nigeria reports that the Apex Igbo Socio Cultural Organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has expressed confidence that the Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi would reclaim his mandate. Last week Wednesday, the electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission had declared the Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu the winner of the 2023 Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar who is the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party was the second runner up while Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of Labour Party was declared the third runner up.
However, in reaction to the outcome of the Presidential election, Obi refused to accept the results as he alleged election malpractice, he vowed to challenge the outcome of the Presidential election in Court as he vowed to take Tinubu to the Tribunal. In reaction, the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Alex Ogbonnia said that the Apex Igbo organization is ready to support Peter Obi in reclaiming his mandate. He stressed that Nigerians were confident in Peter Obi. Speaking with journalists, he was quoted saying, I have confidence in him because sometime ago, when he was deprived of his victory in Anambra state, he assured his people that he would get his mandate back and he did, history is almost repeating it self again.
