The EPL Club Jose Mourinho Could Coach Next Season
Jose Mourinho joined AS Roma in the summer of 2021 after being fired from Tottenham, and he signed a deal that would last until the summer of 2024. The Portuguese manager guided Roma to the UEFA Conference League title in his first campaign in charge of the team, and he is now hoping to secure a Champions League spot in the current Serie A standings. Roma is currently in fifth place on the league standings, just three points behind second-placed Inter Milan. After eliminating Salzburg from the Europa League, they have now advanced to the round of 32 of the competition.
Even though Mourinho’s performances at AS Roma haven’t exactly been dismal, there are persistent rumors that he will leave the team at the end of the current campaign in order to join a bigger European club. He has already been connected to a number of jobs.
However, Mourinho is a manager who loves challenges and doesn’t hide his love for always coaching in the Premier League, having previously coached three different Premier League teams. This is true even though he has received interest from numerous clubs across Europe for the managerial Job.
Mourinho could be seen returning back to the Premier League again at the beginning of next season, with increased speculations about his likely departure from AS Roma at the end of the current season.
So in this article, we will be writing on the Premier League team that Jose Mourinho could manage next season.
1. Chelsea
After this season, Chelsea is the most likely destination for Jose Mourinho if he decides to return to the Premier League. Pep Guardiola is a competent manager for Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp is not likely to be fired by Liverpool despite their poor performance, and even if they do, Mourinho is not the type of manager the Reds would consider hiring to succeed the German coach given the club’s style of play and his contentious management style.
As he has no possibility of returning to Manchester United or Tottenham, Chelsea is the only Premier League club he might think about managing.
Despite spending over £600 million in the last two transfer windows, Chelsea is not currently performing at its best in the current season. Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, is under extreme strain at the club as Chelsea now sits in 10th place in the league and faces the possibility of finishing the campaign without a trophy if they lose to Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 of the Champions League.
Although the Chelsea owners might give Graham Potter until the end of the current football season, regardless of the team’s performance, they may assess the situation at the end of the year, which could lead to Graham Potter’s firing and the need for a top-proven manager to take his place. Given his track record of success as a manager and the fact that he would relish the chance to coach Chelsea again, Jose Mourinho might be that manager.
Will you like Jose Mourinho to return to Chelsea next season, or another manager should be appointed to replace Graham Potter?
