Three different ways Chelsea could lineup under the management of Zinedine Zidane if appointed

Chelsea’s recent performance under the management of Graham Potter has been far from impressive, leading the club to consider appointing a new manager. One of the names being considered is Zinedine Zidane, the former Real Madrid manager. If Zidane were to take the helm at Chelsea, it is likely that he would make a few changes to the team’s lineup in an attempt to turn things around. Here are three potential lineups that Zidane could use if he were to become Chelsea’s manager.

The first lineup Zidane could consider is a 4-3-3 formation. This would see a back four of Reece James, Benoit Badiashile, Thiago Silva, and Benjamin Chilwell, with Enzo Fernandez, Mateo Kovacic, and Mason Mount operating in midfield. Up front, Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, and Joao Felix would form the attacking trio. This formation would allow Chelsea to control the midfield and create chances from out wide while also having plenty of attacking options up front.

The second lineup Zidane could opt for is a 4-2-3-1 formation. This would involve a back four of Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana, and Marc Cucurella, with Enzo Fernandez and Kante sitting in defensive midfield. Mount, Mykhaylo Mudryk, and Joao Felix would play in the attacking midfield roles, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would operate as the lone striker. This system would be more defensive-minded, allowing Chelsea to absorb pressure and hit opponents on the counterattack.

The third and final option Zidane could look at is a 3-5-2 formation. This would involve a back three of Trevor Chalobah, Silva, and Kalidou Koulibaly, with James and Ben Chilwell playing as wing-backs. Kante and Enzo Fernandez would sit in defensive midfield, with Kai Havertz, Raheem Sterling, and Hakim Ziyech providing support from the attacking midfield roles. Joao Felix and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be the two strikers. This system would allow Chelsea to press high up the pitch and create plenty of chances in the final third.

Whichever system Zidane decides to go with, it is clear that Chelsea need to make a change in order to turn their fortunes around. With the right tactics and team selection, Zidane could be the man to lead Chelsea back to the top of English football.
