Governorship Poll: APC advises Makinde to brace up for imminent defeat

Following the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Timubu, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the president-elect, the party in Oyo State, has advised Governor ‘Seyi Makinde to prepare for his imminent defeat in the March 11, governorship election.

The Director – General, Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Coalition for Good Governance, (ATSCGG), Barr. Adebayo Shittu, gave the advice, yesterday, during a press conference held at his office in Ibadan.

Shittu, in the press conference, themed: “Whither Oyo State 2023,” noted that APC in the state after the glorious victory at the presidential and national assembly elections, had gone to refine its trajectory to guarantee equally over – whelming and undulatory victory and triumph over the main opponent and the current governor.

He said: “It would be recalled that Oyo State, as one of the foremost Yoruba States, had always been ruled by progressive parties under different names and colours”.

“However, the State fell into bad times under the last administration of the late Sen. Ishaq Ajimobi (of blessed memory). Unfortunately, he could not manage well the APC primaries for local governments, state assembly, the gubernatorial and national assembly”.

Presidential election victory: IBB congratulates Tinubu

Former Military President, General (rtd.) Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has commended Nigerians for going out en masse to exercise their voting rights in the Saturday presidential election.

IBB in a statement issued by his media officer, Abdulrauf Idris to congratulate president -elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu however, called on them to join hands with the winner, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the business of repairing the nation.

According to him, the work of nation building requires that all hands must be on deck.

“This is a bright moment for Nigeria, we have to take our destiny in our hands and make things work for us as a nation. We cannot continue to do things the same way, and I believe that God will make things work for this country again,” he explained.

PDP senators dismiss Lawan’s claims on electronic transmission

Two Peoples Democratic Party senators, Gershom Bassey (Cross River South) and Abba Moro (Benue South), have faulted the arguments of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on the provisions of the Electoral Act regarding the electronic transmission of results.

They insisted that both Chambers of the National Assembly duly passed the provisions in the Electoral Act which mandates the Independent National Electoral Commission to transmit election results electronically from the polling units to its central server.

The Senate President had during plenary on Tuesday said there was no provision for the electronic transmission of results in the Electoral Act 2022.

Lawan had noted that the National Assembly only made provision for the transfer of results from the polling units to the server of the INEC.

Media and Publicity Officer, Zazzau Emirate said, the Emir of Zazzau Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has with immediate effect approved the transfer of District Head of Waje, Sarkin Yaran Zazzau Alhaji Abdulkadir Magaji to Kubau as the new District Head.
