There’s No President-elect—Pa Adebanjo

Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has claimed that there is no President-elect in Nigeria, insisting that the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu winner of the 2023 presidential election, will not stand.

Pa Adebanjo is one of the elder statesmen who publicly declared support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, on the ground that the people of the South East should be allowed to have a shot at the presidency for equity and justice to reign supreme.

The INEC declared Bola Tinubu winner of the February 25th, 2023 presidential election amidst an alleged wide range of irregularities across the country majorly due to the inability of the electoral umpire to keep its promise of deploying technology in the election.

Some members of the Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have attributed the victory of APC’s candidate, Bola Tinubu, in Rivers State to the intervention of Governor Nyesom Wike of the state.

Members of the PCC also said they would support the preferred candidate of the state governor in the state, Siminialaye Fubara, as a way of reciprocating the support of the governor during the presidential polls.

The PCC, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, said Wike was instrumental to the success of the APC at the presidential poll, adding that without the efforts of the governor that their candidate would not have secured up to the 25 per cent vote, which is the constitutional requirement expected from the state.

Central Bank To Meet On Old N1000, N500 Notes After Supreme Court’s Ruling On Monetary Policy

Following the Supreme Court judgment extending the deadline for the use of the old banknotes of N200, N500 and N1,000 till December 31, 2023 the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has fixed March 20 and 21st, to review the decision.

The two-day 12-man Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting is expected to review the decision of the court and the implications in the economy.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that a seven-man panel of Supreme Court in unanimous decision stopped the federal government from ending the implementation of the naira swap police until December 31.

Justice Emmanuel Agim who read the judgment held that the correct process for the redesign policy had not been followed.

It faulted President Muhammadu Buhari for introducing the policy without the Council of States, the Federal Executive Council, the Civil Society and other relevant stakeholders.

Tinubu To Stay At Defence Guest House In Abuja Till May 29 – APC Presidential Council

The President-elect, Bola Tinubu, will be moving to the Defence Guest House in the Maitama District of Abuja.

According to a tweet by the All Progressive Campaign Council on Thursday, Tinubu will spend the next couple of months in the defense House from where he will move into the Presidential Villa.

“The President-elect will be moving into Defence House, in Maitama, FCT, where he will spend the next couple of months, and from where he will move into the Presidential Villa,” a tweet reads.

The notice came barely 24 hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential elections.

From the Defence House, Tinubu will receive briefings and hold key meetings as President-elect.
