Why I’m Not Among List Of SANs To Defend Tinubu’s Mandate In Court – Keyamo
The Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, has responded to accusations of lying about being part of Senior lawyers to defend the mandate of President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
Recall that last week, Keyamo during an interview on TVC revealed that Tinubu has set up a team of SANs to defend his mandate.
However, APC on Tuesday unveiled a thirteen-man list to battle the opposition parties candidate in the court and Keyamo’s name was missing.
Hotnewsdrop.com earlier reported that APC National Legal Adviser, Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq, in a statement released the 13-man list comprising 12 senior advocates.
Top on the list is a legal icon, Wole Olanipekun, who is also the lead counsel to the ruling party at the Presidential Election Tribunal
Others listed include Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq, Sam Ologunorisa, Rotimi Oguneso, Olabisi Soyebo, Gboyega Oyewole, Muritala Abdulrasheed, Aliyu Omezia Saiki, Tajudeen Oladoja, Pius Akubo, Oluseye Opasanya, Suraju Saida and Kazeem Adeniyi.
This sparked outrage online following the omission of the Minister of State for Labour and Employment from the list.
Responding via Twitter, Keyamo said the constitution does not allow a serving minister to be among any private legal team, however, the individual can only support the team in preparation.
He wrote: “For those who made inquiries, a serving Minister (by our Constitution) cannot be listed in any private legal team, though he/she can support the team in preparation. Hence, the present cabinet Ministers who are SANs can only formally join the Election Petition team after May 29th.”
